‘Van kale nieuwbouw trap, naar een trap met een compleet andere uitstraling’
De meeste ruimtes in huis zijn inmiddels wel aangepakt, maar de trappen bleven maar kaal. Ik moet eerlijk toegeven dat de trappen niet erg hoog op mijn prioriteitenlijst stond. Anne had na de verhuizen de twee trappen met witte grondverf behandeld. De trappen zagen er na de verhuizing namelijk echt niet uit. Daarom was deze snelle oplossing, op dat moment meer dan oké voor ons.
Een doorn in het oog
Toch bleef de trap een doorn in mijn oog. Het huis werd steeds mooier ingericht. De trappen daarentegen begonnen lelijk af te steken tegen over de rest van het huis. We wilden iets aan de trappen doen, maar wat?
De knoop doorhakken
Ik kan uren zoeken op Pinterest naar mooie plaatjes. Terwijl Anne binnen vijf minuten een keuze kan maken. De knoop doorhakken bleek lastiger dan gedacht. Onze persoonlijke smaak ligt niet altijd op één lijn met wat de ander mooi vind. We kwamen er niet uit. Zo wilde Anne bijvoorbeeld graag vloerbedekking. Persoonlijk, vind ik dat minder hygiënisch. Ik wil de trap graag snel schoon kunnen houden. Toch zag ik ook wel de voordelen, maar met twee kinderen part-time in huis zag ik zeker ook de nadelen. Ik gaf Anne het voordeel van de twijfel. En gingen we samen op zoek naar een geschikt vloerbedekking. Om een lang verhaal kort te maken, we vonden niks wat ons beide aanstond. Daarnaast was mijn keuze weer té besmettelijk of in verhouding gewoonweg te duur. We zochten toch meer naar een budget oplossing.
Goedkoop is duurkoop
De gehele zoektocht kon dus weer opnieuw beginnen. Tot groot enthousiasme van Anne, not! Hij wilde heel graag de trappen klaar hebben, voordat onze pup kwam. We besloten uiteindelijk om beide trappen te verven. Voor de trap van de bovenste naar de eerste verdieping kozen we voor een grijze kleur. In de plaatselijke verfwinkel kozen we een kwalitatief goede verf uit, die qua kleur dicht in de buurt kwam van het betonlook vinyl. Anne heeft er een hekel aan om de trap meerdere keren per jaar te moeten bijwerken. Zijn trappen, in zijn vorige woning, waren geverfd met een goedkopere verf. Uiteindelijk moest hij deze trappen steeds weer opnieuw schuren en bijwerken. In dit geval is goedkoop, duurkoop geweest. Vandaar dat wij kozen voor een kwalitatief betere verf.
Ik zou ik niet zijn
Anne zag me alweer aankomen. Ik vond het namelijk een geniaal idee om een aantal treden wit te maken. Uiteindelijk ging hij toch overstag en had hij de trap in mum van tijd opgeknapt. Wat een verschil en wat een tof effect! Op dat moment wist Anne nog niet wat ik voor de andere trap in gedachten had.
‘Waar decoratie hout goed voor is’.
Na uitgebreid onderzoek kwam ik op een Instagram post van @stylebynik123 uit. Ik vond haar DIY idee zo leuk dat ik het ook het ook wilde. Uiteraard heb ik dit aan haar vertelt en zelfs een preview gegeven van onze trap make over. Anne slaakte een diepe zucht. Ik had namelijk weer eens een complexe DIY uitgezocht. Het idee was om het decoratie hout op de stootborden van de trap te plakken. We kochten deze decoratie plakhout by WoWood bij Karwei. De bovenkant van de treden werden wit. Ik vond zelf dat Anne nog geluk had met dit idee. Aangezien mijn andere idee een ombre effect bevatte.

Puzzelen voor gevorderden
We kochten drie pakken decoratie hout. We kwamen net niet lekker uit, waardoor niet alle pakken gebruikt zijn. Op de achterkant van het decoratie hout zit een plakstrip. Anne koos ervoor om het plakhout extra vast te zetten met houtlijm. Onze stootborden zijn net wat hoger dan de plakhout plankjes, waardoor Anne aardig heeft moeten puzzelen. Hij heeft een heleboel smalle reepjes moeten zagen. Het was een flinke klus. Dus denk goed na of je hier de juiste materialen voor hebt én vooral zin in hebt. Anne is er een goede dag mee bezig geweest. Achteraf vond hij het erg leuk om te doen en ging hij als een speer. Het resultaat mag er zijn, al zeg ik het zelf! Wat vinden jullie ?
